Members of Haverhill Leisure Centre’s Keep Active Class have raised more than £100 for the Alzheimer’s Society at their annual Christmas party.

The Keep Active classes are a social, gentle and very popular aerobic programme designed for the over 50s, combining functional strength, flexibility and suppleness exercises.

There is also a badminton and short tennis session as part of this class and more than 60 people a week take part at the Centre on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Afterwards there is free coffee and biscuits for the group served on the balcony where they can sit and talk with friends. Keep Active Coordinator Anne Jendoubi presented Becky Nicholson from the Alzheimer’s Society with a cheque for £111.00 at Haverhill leisure Centre on Thursday (December 17).

Nigel Snape, Centre Manager, said: “Our Keep Active classes are a hugely popular session here at Haverhill Leisure Centre attracting up to 60 people per session and every year they use their Christmas party to raise money for those less fortunate. Congratulations to our Keep Active members on another successful fundraiser.”
